TECUMSEH, MI – A Tecumseh-based hunting and outdoor company is under investigation over allegations of violation of Michigan’s consumer protection law.
The Michigan Attorney General’s Office announced Monday, Jan.25 that it had sent a cease and desist letter to Team Fitzgerald Marketing, owned and operated by father-son duo Dan and Guy Fitzgerald, after receiving a slew of complaints concerning the company.
The letter was sent to the company after the AG’s office and the Better Business Bureau received more than 70 complaints in the past year claiming that the company did not deliver the goods purchased, supplied guided hunts as advertised, fulfilled contractual obligations and correctly responded to consumer reimbursement requests. .
The Fitzgerald team sells hunting equipment and supplies and offers guided hunting trips. The Fitzgeralds are also known for their television show, “Team Fitzgerald Vintage Country Lifestyle,” according to the attorney general’s office.
Several of the complaints allege that the company failed to follow up on sales on the company’s website and dodged refund requests and complaints, often blocking email addresses, phone numbers and accounts. of customers’ social networks.
In one case, a complainant client was reportedly threatened with legal action for contacting the AG’s office, the letter said.
“The Michigan Consumer Protection Act provides this office with the tools and authority to seek refunds and other remedies on behalf of consumers who have benefited from them, including legal action if necessary,” the attorney said. Michigan General Dana Nessel. “There have been many complaints against this company and its inability to deliver expensive hunting trips and products sold to consumers and businesses, and my office will aggressively seek justice as we determine the extent of any wrongdoing. “
