Joe O’Dea is Mitch McConnell’s “perfect candidate”

As a Coloradan who cares deeply about the future of Colorado, the state where I plan to die and where we hope our children will play out their lives, I would hate for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to represents us.

Nor do I want Joe O’Dea, whom McConnell called “the perfect candidate.”

McConnell called O’Dea the perfect candidate because O’Dea opposes the Reproductive Health Equity Act Governor Jared Polis signed into law. O’Dea opposes common sense gun politics and women’s right to choose, and he supports lowering taxes on corporations and wealthier Colorados.

Americans often have short memories when it comes to politics and politics, though I ask you to remember former Senator Cory Gardner – a conservative politician who vowed to stand up to his party on far-right issues out of touch and instead voted with McConnell 90% of the time, acting as a rubber stamp for detached anti-choice and pro-rich McConnell donors.

I don’t see where U.S. Senate nominee O’Dea will differ from Gardner. At best, O’Dea is another McConnell sycophant. If McConnell wins a Republican majority in the Senate, we’ll likely see a nationwide abortion ban, a war on Medicare and Social Security, and more unnecessary tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. the same people who don’t need tax cuts.

Outgoing Senator Michael Bennet has shown incredible commitment to Colorado. He supported those who needed it most, helping pass the Child Tax Credit. Bennet voted for important bipartisan legislation, namely the Infrastructure Act. He recently supported federal gun safety legislation and the Cut Inflation Act, including Bennet’s 15% tax on big business (which I’ve worked with and know that they don’t pay their fair share of taxes).

He’s not afraid to fight big money and big power.

Let’s elect people who will fight for the Coloradodans.
