The Town of Gaston Endowment Fund was established in 2012 by Betty Jane Clark Carter, a longtime resident of Gaston who saw a need in her community. The fund supports projects and programs that benefit residents of the City of Gaston and Harrison and the Townships of Washington. Betty hoped that the creation of the fund would set an example for others to give back as much as they could. A committee of area residents reviews applications each year and makes grant recommendations to the Community Foundation Board of Directors. Applications are accepted annually on May 1. The existence of this fund guarantees a constant flow of income to finance interesting projects in the Gaston region for years to come.
